Welcome to Movo, the novel and fiction reading community where stories live and readers connect. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how Movo (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and all related features and services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using Movo, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

Note on age: Movo is intended exclusively for users who are 18 years of age or older. Some content available on Movo may be intended for mature audiences. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this age requirement.
Note on data: Movo does not sell your personal information to third parties. Your reading habits, preferences, and personal data are used solely to improve your experience on the platform.
Chapter I
Information We Collect
§ 1.1   Account & Profile Information

When you create a Movo account, we collect the information you voluntarily provide: your display name, email address, date of birth (to verify you are 18 years of age or older), profile photograph, country of residence, preferred reading genres, and any personal biography you choose to write. If you register via Apple Sign-In or Google, we receive a limited profile dataset as authorized by you and that provider.

§ 1.2   Device & Technical Information

We automatically collect device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP address, mobile carrier, app version, crash logs, and performance diagnostics to maintain service quality and diagnose technical issues.

§ 1.3   Reading Activity Data

When you read on Movo, we collect detailed reading activity including: titles and chapters accessed, reading progress and completion rates, time spent per chapter and per session, reading speed and scroll patterns, bookmarks and annotations you create, and any ratings or reviews you submit. This data is core to personalizing your experience. See Chapter III for full details.

§ 1.4   Library & Collection Data

Books you add to your library, titles on your reading list, and collections or shelves you create are stored on our servers and associated with your account to enable cross-device access and personalized recommendations.

§ 1.5   User-Generated Content

Any reviews, comments, forum posts, author-reader discussions, or original fiction you publish on Movo constitutes User-Generated Content (UGC). See Chapter IV for full details.

§ 1.6   Usage & Behavioral Data

We record how you navigate the Service: content you browse, search queries you enter, features you use, recommendations you interact with, and the frequency and timing of your sessions. This informs our recommendation engine and product improvements.

§ 1.7   Communications & Support Data

If you contact our support team, submit a content report, or participate in surveys, we retain the content and metadata of those communications for the purpose of resolving your inquiry and improving the Service.

§ 1.8   Payment & Transaction Data

All payments are processed exclusively by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not store your payment card details. We receive only anonymized transaction confirmation tokens and purchase entitlement data sufficient to activate your in-app access.

Chapter II
How We Use Your Data
§ 2.1   Operating the Service

We use your information to authenticate your account, deliver reading content, operate community features, enforce content policies, process purchases, and provide all core Service functions including library management, reading progress sync, and author-reader interaction features.

§ 2.2   Personalized Reading Recommendations

Your reading history, library contents, genre preferences, and engagement patterns power Movo's recommendation engine, surfacing books and authors we believe you will find compelling. See Chapter V for details on how personalization works and how to opt out.

§ 2.3   Author & Creator Support

For authors and content creators on Movo, we use your data to calculate readership statistics, provide audience analytics, process earnings where applicable, and support your content management activities.

§ 2.4   Safety & Content Integrity

We process behavioral data, user reports, and content signals to detect and prevent fraud, harassment, prohibited content, and policy violations.

§ 2.5   Product Improvement

Aggregated and de-identified usage data is analyzed to improve recommendation accuracy, reading experience features, and overall platform performance.

§ 2.6   Marketing & Communications

With your consent where required by law, we may send promotional communications about new titles, author events, and platform offers. You may withdraw consent at any time via in-app settings or the unsubscribe link in any email.

§ 2.7   Legal Compliance

We process personal data as necessary to comply with applicable laws, respond to valid legal process, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the safety of our users and the public.

Chapter III
Reading & Content Data
§ 3.1   Reading Progress Tracking

Movo tracks your reading progress (chapter completion, bookmarks, current position) to enable seamless cross-device reading continuity. This data is essential to the Service and cannot be disabled while your account is active, though you may delete your reading history at any time from your account settings.

§ 3.2   Annotations & Highlights

If you create highlights or annotations within a book, these are stored on our servers and associated with your account. Annotations in publicly shared reading sessions may be visible to other readers. You may export or delete your annotations at any time from your reading history settings.

§ 3.3   Genre & Preference Profiling

We infer your genre preferences, reading pace, and content interests from your reading activity. These inferences form your reader profile, used exclusively for in-app personalization. Your reader profile is not shared with publishers, authors, or third-party advertisers without your explicit consent.

§ 3.4   Content Unlocks & Access Records

Records of which books, chapters, or premium content you have unlocked or purchased are retained for the life of your account to enable access restoration after reinstallation or device change, and for the statutory period required for financial record-keeping thereafter.

§ 3.5   Mature Content Access

Where Movo offers mature or adult-rated fiction, your election to access such content is recorded as part of your account settings and preference data. This information is used to apply appropriate content filters and is treated with the same data protection standards as all other personal data. It is never shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

Chapter IV
User-Generated Content (UGC)
§ 4.1   Types of UGC on Movo

Movo supports several forms of user-generated content including: book reviews and ratings; reader forum posts and discussions; author biography and book description content; original fiction and serialized stories submitted by writer-users; comments on chapters or community posts; and reading challenge participation entries.

§ 4.2   Collection & Storage

All UGC you submit is collected, stored on our secure cloud infrastructure, and associated with your account. You retain ownership of all original content you create.

§ 4.3   License Grant

By submitting UGC to Movo, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your content within the Service and in connection with marketing the Service, subject to your privacy settings. This license persists for a commercially reasonable period following deletion to account for technical and legal requirements.

§ 4.4   Author Content Rights

Authors who publish original fiction on Movo retain full ownership of their creative work. The license grant described in § 4.3 applies only to the right to host and display your work on the Movo platform. Movo does not claim ownership of, or the right to commercially exploit, your original literary work outside of operating and promoting the Movo Service. Any additional commercial arrangements require a separate, explicit written agreement.

§ 4.5   Content Moderation

UGC is reviewed using automated screening and human review for compliance with our Community Guidelines. Reviews, forum posts, and original fiction that violate our content policies — including content that glorifies illegal activity, constitutes hate speech, contains unsolicited explicit material in non-adult-designated spaces, or violates third-party intellectual property rights — may be removed. Repeat or serious violators may face account suspension or termination.

§ 4.6   Content Deletion

You may delete your UGC at any time. Deleted content is removed from public display within 48 hours, from production servers within 30 days, and from backup archives within 90 days. Reviews and comments that have been responded to by other users may leave traces in those responses that we cannot retroactively remove.

Chapter V
Personalization Engine
§ 5.1   How Recommendations Work

Movo's recommendation system analyzes your reading history, library contents, genre preferences, reading speed, completion rates, review history, and engagement with community content to surface books, authors, and series we believe you will enjoy. The system becomes more accurate the more you read on the platform.

§ 5.2   Reader Profile

We build an internal reader profile from your activity on Movo. This profile is used exclusively for in-app personalization and is not sold, shared with publishers for marketing purposes, or transferred to any third-party advertising network without your explicit, informed consent.

§ 5.3   Opting Out of Personalization

You may disable personalized recommendations at any time in Settings > Privacy > Personalization. Movo will then present a non-personalized, editorially curated discovery feed. Your reading history data will still be collected for security and analytics purposes unless you exercise broader data deletion rights under Chapter XII.

Chapter VI
Information Sharing & Disclosure
§ 6.1   Service Providers

We share personal information with trusted third-party service providers who support our operations, including cloud infrastructure providers, content delivery networks, payment processors, analytics platforms, customer support tools, and content moderation systems. All providers are contractually bound to process your data only on our instructions and in compliance with applicable data protection law.

§ 6.2   No Sale of Personal Data

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your reading habits, preferences, or other personal data with publishers, book retailers, or third-party advertisers for their independent commercial use.

§ 6.3   Author Analytics

Authors whose works are published on Movo receive aggregate, anonymized analytics about their readership (e.g., total reads, completion rates by chapter, average rating). These analytics do not include individually identifiable reader information unless the reader has explicitly chosen to make their identity visible to the author (e.g., through a public review).

§ 6.4   Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal data may transfer to the acquiring entity. We will notify you in advance via in-app notice or email before your data becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy, giving you the opportunity to request account deletion.

§ 6.5   Legal Disclosure

We may disclose your information to law enforcement or government authorities when required by applicable law, valid legal process, or where necessary to protect user safety. Where legally permitted, we will notify affected users prior to such disclosure.

§ 6.6   Publicly Visible Content

Your display name, profile photo, public reviews, forum posts, and any publicly published original fiction are visible to other Movo users and may be indexed by search engines. You may set your profile or individual content items to private in your account settings.

Chapter VII
Third-Party Services & SDKs
§ 7.1   Analytics SDKs

We integrate mobile analytics SDKs to measure app performance and feature engagement. These are configured with privacy-preserving settings including anonymized event collection and suppression of advertising identifiers absent your consent.

§ 7.2   Content Delivery Networks

Book content and media are delivered via third-party CDN providers to ensure fast, reliable loading for readers worldwide. These providers process delivery metadata (not reading behavior) as technical intermediaries under data processing agreements.

§ 7.3   Payment Providers

Apple App Store and Google Play handle all payment processing. Their terms and privacy policies govern the payment transaction. Our use of data from these platforms is limited to confirming entitlements.

§ 7.4   Authentication Providers

Apple Sign-In and Google authentication are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Our use of data from these services is strictly limited to account creation and profile population.

Chapter VIII
Data Retention
§ 8.1   Active Account Data

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. Accounts with no login activity for 24 consecutive months will receive a dormancy notice; following the notice period, inactive data may be anonymized or deleted.

§ 8.2   Reading History

Your reading history, progress data, and annotations are retained for the life of your account. You may delete your reading history at any time from account settings. Deleted reading data is removed from active systems within 30 days.

§ 8.3   Transaction Records

Financial transaction and purchase records are retained for a minimum of seven years to comply with applicable accounting, tax, and consumer protection obligations.

§ 8.4   Safety & Moderation Records

Records of content moderation actions, user reports, and enforcement decisions are retained for up to 36 months after account closure to support pattern analysis, appeals, and legal defense.

§ 8.5   Anonymized Analytics

Aggregate, irreversibly anonymized data (which cannot be used to re-identify you) may be retained indefinitely for product research and platform development.

Chapter IX
Data Security
§ 9.1   Technical Safeguards

We implement TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit, AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest, strict role-based access controls, and automated anomaly detection to flag unusual access patterns for review.

§ 9.2   Organizational Safeguards

Access to user data is restricted on a need-to-know basis, requires multi-factor authentication, and is subject to comprehensive audit logging. All personnel with data access undergo regular data protection training and sign confidentiality agreements.

§ 9.3   Vulnerability Management

We conduct regular security assessments and third-party penetration testing. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to service@movo.casa.

§ 9.4   Breach Notification

In the event of a personal data breach posing risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify relevant supervisory authorities within 72 hours where required by law and inform affected users without undue delay, describing the nature of the breach and steps taken to mitigate harm.

Chapter X
Tracking Technologies
§ 10.1   In-App Technologies

The Movo app uses session tokens, local storage, and analytics SDKs (not traditional browser cookies) to maintain your session, remember preferences, sync reading progress, and measure feature engagement.

§ 10.2   Advertising Identifiers

On iOS, we request ATT consent before accessing your IDFA. On Android, we respect your opt-out via device advertising settings. Advertising identifiers are used only to measure our own user acquisition campaigns and are not shared for third-party behavioral advertising.

§ 10.3   Web Properties

Our website and help center may use standard browser cookies for session management and analytics, manageable via your browser settings.

Chapter XI
Cross-Border Data Transfers
§ 11.1   Global Infrastructure

Movo serves a global readership and operates infrastructure across multiple regions. Your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, which may have different data protection standards.

§ 11.2   Transfer Safeguards

For transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to countries lacking an adequacy decision, we rely on EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, where applicable, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum (IDTA). Equivalent safeguards apply to other cross-border transfers.

§ 11.3   Data Localization

Where applicable national laws impose mandatory data localization requirements, we take reasonable steps to store and process the required data categories within the mandated territory.

Chapter XII
Your Privacy Rights
§ 12.1   Right of Access

Request a copy of personal data we hold about you via your in-app account settings or by emailing service@movo.casa with subject “Data Access Request.”

§ 12.2   Right to Rectification

Correct or update inaccurate personal information directly in your account settings. For data that cannot be self-corrected, contact us and we will action the correction within 30 days.

§ 12.3   Right to Erasure

Request deletion of your account and personal data via Settings > Account > Delete Account or by emailing us. See Chapter XIX for full account deletion details.

§ 12.4   Right to Object & Restrict

Object to or request restriction of processing in certain circumstances. We will pause relevant processing while assessing your objection.

§ 12.5   Right to Data Portability

Where processing is based on consent or contract and automated, request your data in a structured, machine-readable format (e.g., JSON) for transfer to another service provider.

§ 12.6   Withdrawal of Consent

Withdraw consent for marketing or optional personalization at any time via in-app settings or by contacting us, without affecting prior lawful processing.

§ 12.7   How to Submit a Request

Email service@movo.casa with “Privacy Rights Request” in the subject line, your registered email address, and a description of your request. We verify your identity and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30 days).

Chapter XIII
GDPR — EEA & UK Users
§ 13.1   Data Controller

For EEA and UK users, Movo acts as the data controller of your personal information under the GDPR and UK GDPR respectively.

§ 13.2   Legal Bases for Processing

We process your data under: (a) contractual necessity (to provide the Service); (b) legal obligation (regulatory compliance); (c) legitimate interests (safety, fraud prevention, service improvement), where not overridden by your rights; and (d) consent (for marketing and optional personalization features).

§ 13.3   Supervisory Authority Complaints

You may lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority if you believe your data has not been handled lawfully. We encourage you to contact us first to attempt direct resolution.

Chapter XIV
CCPA / CPRA — California Users
§ 14.1   California Rights

California residents have rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Movo does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

§ 14.2   Non-Discrimination

Exercising your California privacy rights will not result in denial of services, different pricing, or a reduced quality of experience on Movo.

§ 14.3   Authorized Agents

California residents may designate an authorized agent to submit privacy requests by providing written proof of authorization. We verify both agent and resident identity before processing any request.

Chapter XV
Brazil — LGPD
§ 15.1   Rights Under LGPD

Brazilian users have rights under the Lei Geral de Protecao de Dados (LGPD) including confirmation, access, correction, anonymization, deletion, portability, and withdrawal of consent.

§ 15.2   Legal Bases

We process Brazilian users' data based on contract performance, legal obligation, and consent where applicable. We do not rely on legitimate interests alone to process sensitive data categories of Brazilian users.

§ 15.3   ANPD Complaints

Brazilian users may lodge complaints with the Autoridade Nacional de Protecao de Dados (ANPD) where they believe data processing violates the LGPD.

Chapter XVI
Children's Privacy & CSAE Policy
§ 16.1   Age Restriction

Movo is designed exclusively for users who are 18 years of age or older, in part because the platform may offer access to mature literary content. We implement date-of-birth verification at registration and apply additional detection measures to accounts suspected of being operated by minors. Accounts confirmed to belong to users under 18 will be immediately and permanently terminated with all associated data deleted.

§ 16.2   Parental Notification

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has created a Movo account, contact us immediately at service@movo.casa. We will investigate and, where confirmed, permanently delete the account and all associated data without delay.

§ 16.3   Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE)
Zero tolerance — absolute and without exception. Movo enforces an unconditional zero-tolerance policy toward any content, conduct, or activity that constitutes, facilitates, promotes, or glorifies Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) in any form. This applies with full force to all content published on Movo, including original fiction, reviews, forum posts, and all other UGC. Prohibited material includes without limitation: child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form or genre framing; fictional or non-fictional content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers individuals under 18; grooming or solicitation of minors through any platform feature; and any content that normalizes, romanticizes, or depicts the sexual exploitation of minors regardless of how it is labeled or framed — including within literary or fictional contexts.

We deploy automated CSAM hash-matching on all uploaded media, AI-assisted content analysis on published text for CSAE indicators, and dedicated human safety reviewers. Upon confirmed detection or credible report: all associated content is immediately and permanently removed; the responsible account is permanently terminated; a mandatory report is filed with the NCMEC CyberTipline or the legally required equivalent national authority; and we cooperate fully and proactively with all resulting law enforcement investigations. CSAE-related terminations carry no right of appeal.

To report suspected CSAE: use the in-app Report function on any content item or user profile, or email service@movo.casa immediately with subject “CSAE Report.”
§ 16.4   Content Labeling & Mature Filters

Authors are required to accurately label the maturity level of their content. Movo applies content filters based on these labels. Content that is mislabeled to circumvent content controls, or that contains prohibited CSAE material regardless of label, is subject to immediate removal and account enforcement. Users who encounter content they believe is mislabeled or contains CSAE material should report it immediately.

Chapter XVII
In-App Purchases & Content Access
§ 17.1   Payment Processing

All in-app purchases — including coin purchases, chapter unlocks, premium subscriptions, and author tips — are processed exclusively through Apple App Store or Google Play. Movo does not store your payment card details. We receive only anonymized transaction confirmation tokens and purchase entitlement data.

§ 17.2   Virtual Currency & Coins

If Movo offers virtual currency or reading coins: (a) they have no cash value; (b) are non-transferable between accounts; (c) are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or app store policy; (d) may expire per terms disclosed at purchase; and (e) may be forfeited upon account termination for cause.

§ 17.3   Transaction Records

Transaction records are retained for a minimum of seven years to satisfy applicable accounting, tax, and consumer protection requirements.

Chapter XVIII
Notifications & Communications
§ 18.1   Notification Types

Movo may send push notifications for: new chapter releases from authors you follow; reading milestone reminders; community replies and mentions; new reviews on your published work; promotional offers; and account security alerts.

§ 18.2   Managing Preferences

Control notification types in Settings > Notifications or via your device's OS notification settings. Disabling all notifications may cause you to miss important account security alerts.

§ 18.3   Email Communications

Transactional emails (account confirmations, purchase receipts, security alerts) are essential for Service operation and cannot be unsubscribed from while your account is active. Marketing emails are optional and may be unsubscribed from at any time via the link in any such message.

Chapter XIX
Account Deletion & Data Erasure
§ 19.1   How to Delete Your Account

Delete your account at any time via Settings > Account > Delete Account, or by emailing service@movo.casa with subject “Account Deletion Request.”

§ 19.2   Deletion Timeline

Your profile, reviews, and public content are removed from view within 48 hours. Personal data is deleted from production servers within 30 days. Backup archives are purged within 90 days of the next scheduled rotation. Published original fiction may remain available subject to any author licensing arrangements in effect at the time of deletion.

§ 19.3   Data Retained Post-Deletion

Certain data is retained where required by law: transaction records (up to 7 years); safety and moderation records (up to 3 years); and data subject to a legal hold. All retained data is isolated and used only for the specific legal purpose requiring its retention.

Chapter XX
Creator & Author Data
§ 20.1   Author Profile Data

Authors who publish on Movo provide additional information including author biography, genre specializations, and publishing history displayed publicly on their author profile. This information is collected and stored on our servers and is subject to the same data protection standards as all other personal data.

§ 20.2   Readership Analytics

We provide authors with aggregate readership analytics: total reads, chapter completion rates, reader retention curves, average session length per book, and aggregate demographic information (age range, country distribution). These analytics are anonymized and cannot be used to identify individual readers without their explicit consent.

§ 20.3   Monetization Data

Where Movo offers author monetization features (e.g., tips from readers, premium chapter access, or author subscription tiers), we collect earnings records and, where required by law, identity and tax verification information. Creator earnings records are retained for a minimum of seven years for financial compliance purposes.

Chapter XXI
Governing Law & Disputes
§ 21.1   Applicable Law

This Policy is governed by applicable international data protection law and the laws of the jurisdiction in which Movo is incorporated, except where mandatory local law in your country of residence imposes higher standards that cannot be contractually excluded.

§ 21.2   Regulatory Recourse

If our response to a direct complaint has not resolved your concern, you retain the right to escalate to the relevant data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence.

Chapter XXII
Policy Updates
§ 22.1   How We Notify You

Material changes to this Policy are communicated at least 14 days before taking effect via in-app notice, push notification, and/or email to your registered address. Non-material corrections may be made without advance notice.

§ 22.2   Continued Use

Your continued use of Movo after any revised Policy's effective date constitutes acceptance of the updates. If you do not agree, please delete your account before the changes take effect.

§ 22.3   Version Archive

Prior versions of this Policy are available upon request by emailing service@movo.casa.
